Ticking noise when accelerating. The new to me Duramax has a ticking noise going on as soon as you step on the gas. It is present from around 1000rpms to 2700 rpms. If I´m flooring it it goes away and it goes away as soon as I let of the pedal.. I haven´t checked the injector balance rates because I´m lacking the tools.Just traded my 2018 2500 Duramax for a new 2020 2500 L5P and notice a throbbing sound at idle when the engine is warmed up ( currently 2200km). Apr 9, 2019 · New to the forum and new to Diesels! I just bought my first Diesel and its an 04 LB7 with 156k on it. Truck needs some work but thats not the issue.. While test driving I noticed a ticking sound from 1100 rpm till short of 3000rpm. If I´m flooring it it goes away and nothing at idle or very light acceleration.

When at idle (in park or drive doesn't matter) there is a loud ticking noise coming from what sounds like drivers side rear of engine. It is only at idle as soon as throttle is given it goes away. At first I didn't think anything of it but it keeps getting louder and louder.

The proper repair for that is to replace all of the high presure fuel side and flush the low pressure side. A failure of the hpfp sends tiny little metal bits into the fuel injectors damaging them.
