Fort Redstone is good, has became a constant map we always include with our games, although it can be considered a bit OP if you hit it up early before zombie population thickens up a bit, due to the loot you find there. It has map functionality and even connects nicely to the Blacksite now as well.

Unless you boost your weapon skill to like 5+ you struggle even with a few proper zombies (with multihit off). Things change a bit if you play with mods like Brita, Antibodies or additional recipes for crafting. Depends on settings. Personally I think it is very balanced for very rare ammo settings. I start in muldraugh and wander town to town until I’m geared a bit and skilled up a bit then I attack fort redstone and use it as a staging point to raven creek.
