Here’s how to do it properly: Unscrew the bottom panel of the Pit Boss smoker. Locate the red wire connected to the ignitor. Detach that red wire from the Molex connector. Unscrew the ignitor from the burn pot and pull it out. Put a new ignitor in its place and make sure that it’s tightly set.

I see you have the wiring diagram that should do the trick. Just one other tip - when removing the original control panel and connecting the new one do it one connector at a time. That way the connectors will be in like positions. I replaced my control panel and used this practice and had no problem.
