All other gears shift very smoothly up and down, down through second too. Sometimes it will shift three for time OK and the same amount of times hard (random). Throttle control can lessen the hard shift.But Toyota no longer makes even a "sporty sedan", let alone a true sports sedan or sports car. It has become the quitensential GM of Japan. Hell, the FWD TL 6-speed is more fun to drive and feels tighter than the new Lexus GS. And, worse, Toyota / Lexus quality has slipped, IMO, to well below Honda/Acura.
