R-D. 420 posts · Joined 2009. #10 · May 2, 2010. Had a similar problem on my '98 Grand Am, could not remove the key despite the vehicle being in Park. Apparently a BTSI solenoid stopped working and the vehicle did not know when it was in park, therefore it would not allow the key to be removed.
There's not much at all written on the forum about shift indicator lighting. The indicator is likely illuminated with 1 bulb in a socket on the center console wiring harness. 2017 Acadia Shift to Park warning. I own a 2017 Acadia. I first encountered the Shift to Park issue in January 2019. The car was fixed on 1/9/2019 under the technical service bulletin. I now have the issue again and unfortunately I am just outside the 3 yr 36,000 mile warranty as I bought my Acadia on 9/21/2017 and have 36,400 miles on it.

The "shift to park" message appears as soon as you attempt to power off the vehicle (see attached photo). Instead of bumping the handle I have been testing holding my foot on the brake pedal and wiggling the shifter handle then release both every few seconds.
