P0340 is Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit. It will not set the same code for camshaft sensor error, that has its own set of codes for crankshaft errors. See if you can solve that one.You should have an output at idle of about 40 gm/sec when your EGR is closed. Don't worry about the glow plugs for now.

Measure both batteries and check all connections first. Could be the starter or solenoid going.
