I would not have taken off the shift knob like you did to drive. I'd leave it on, use the key to slide the shift level to N and take the key to start the car. After that, you can move the shift to D. It makes sense though to replace the bad part of the shift knob as it is safer to start the car in P rather and N.This thread is old but I just wanted to share with people out if you couldn't shift out of PARK after new throttle or tps sensor replacement, you have to bring your car to the Honda to have them update the PCM software.
