Look up underneath the edge of the flywheel and see if mark "a" on the flywheel is lined up with mark "b" on the timing plate base. That is full advanced. The important is to get the carbs starting to open at the timing specified when the arrow on #47 lines up with the roller on the carb (pick up timing). From that point and down in rpm, it is all about reducing timing to get correct idle rpm. Only two timing adjustments to be set: 1: Pick-up timing.
