My preference is based totally on looks and with that I rank Pro-Action #1, Ohlins #2 and Legends #3. I like the finish of the Pro-Action shocks and they look more robust than the other two brands. I only rank Ohlins #2 because of the external reservoir. The black finish looks great and matches the theme of our bike.

I was originally going to buy a set of Ohlins HD 044's, but instead got the RWD's due to availability. In the back of my head, I keep on wanting to know what the fabled Ohlins are like. They are finally getting some sets in week with the new brackets, and I have a set of the Ohlins HD 044's coming next week. Very curious to compare these 2 shocks.
