Axes have decent durability, good repair ability/good occupation and a hand axe+axeman is the best 1 handed backup weapon. +2 to axes and they’re easy as hell to level from day 1. Long blade is fantastic but simply to rare to main. Axes hit that sweet spot between very strong/not too rare/not too flimsy.
The Salvaged Blade, Salvaged Spear and Salvaged Machete are all top tier weapons. The Blade is arguably the best primary scrap weapon. It has the most damage, pretty much as much range as a spear and is lighter. Plus you won’t have to deal with that slow one shot animation that can be deadly on spears.Once your maintenance is a few levels and your carpentry is level 4, you will create max durability spears and each spear will last maybe 15 zombies.
