I think the first thing to fail in a stock calibrated TH400 due to power would usually be the direct clutches. The sprag is a weak point also but I think engine rpm is as much of a killer as power. I used a 60-70's PG/350 mount with two bolts on the top & 2 on the bottom. Bolted right up to the transmission.
