It's typical for the final drive fluid to be grey/black, as it has molybedenum added to it at assembly. After reading several threads about oil, decided it was time to do an oil change myself. In the last 4 years of owning an Aero 750 and now a VTX 1300 I had been taking the bike in to the dealer per the maintenance schedule. Have done a bunch of mods from all the great posts on the cafe, but left the maintenance work to the shop.
