I have an older john deere 336 baler that I have had for 4 seasons now and this season its struggling to make a nice tight bale in dry grass hay. The 224T was the replacement for the 214T, and is a heavy-duty version of the 24T, sold during the same period. The knotters are pretty much the same on all these balers, as well as the 33x series that followed. We sell tractor parts!

He said that sheet metal and all is in good shape. Also said that he never had problems missing bales. Replaced: All the pick-up fingers. half the loops between the fingers. guides on both sides of the ram. Pins and springs where the PTO shaft meets the gear box enclosure (lets it spin down when PTO is shut off)

He said "we only seem to sell JD balers to existing JD baler owners, other people don't want to buy them". He has about 5 273 NH balers, 4 311's, 3 315's and 2 316's. Price ranges from $2300-5950.
Even thou it's old it is the same design knotter as the new balers, one of the most over looked problems is a dull knife on the wiper arm, it would be a good start to switch it over to the new style arm with the replaceable knife, you can make it work with the plastic twine with a little fine tuning..the plastic cuts a bit harder and is a bit slipperier, but more constant in size and strength ...
