This will cause a stock to open at a different price than what it closed at the prior trading day. When a stock opens higher than the prior closing price it is called a gap-up. When a stock opens lower than the prior closing price it is called a gap-down.Last price: $10 – $100. Minimum of 50,000 shares of volume traded in premarket. 20,000,001 – 500,000,000 shares. Price gapping up at least 4% during premarket. Using those criteria, I’m able to return around 10 – 20 stocks each morning (I run my scan right at 9:00EST) to have a closer look at.

It is important to look for stocks with an ATR of at least 50 cents (Average True Range) The stock is being propelled by a fundamental factor.
