Shilen barrel review.

I've had really good luck with Shilen match barrels spun up by Mike Milli at Dedicated Technologies. Most have been in 223, but I had him do this barrel in 6 ARC. 20" medium contour, rifle length gas (.875 gas block), fluted and threaded. Turnaround was about 9 months, but worth the wait.With my tested lot of Center-X,RimX/Shilen is comparable to Vudoo/Ace at 50 yards. I've shot a few groups at 100 which showed promise (multiple 5-shot groups with 3 rounds in 1/2" followed by 1-2 fliers 3/4" or more away), but 1029fps is too slow to shoot PRS matches with targets at 400 yards.Still a number of Shilen barrels in the Bench Rest winners circles. With the Bench rest crowd there is a lot of the follow the leader syndrome so barrels will come and go in popularity until a top competitor wins with one and everybody gets back on the bandwagon. Fitting and Chambering the Barrel As for a barrel, I had two good choices: one Shilen 1:16″-twist, 4-groove ratchet and one Benchmark 1:16″-twist, 3-groove.
