The KVD21 also appears to be more of a budget device than the 5G21, construction wise. My guess is that t-mobile added the KVD21 not only to have an alternate source, but also to reduce costs. I'm pretty sure that the Nokia device costs t-mobile more than this Arcadyan devices does.

I have the newer KVD21 internet device and have moved it to every part of my house and get a consistent 2-3 bars. Took it outside and get a consistent 3 bars.. barely good enough. Is there a way to hook up an external antenna to the KVD21.. like with the USB-C port?

There's not any good angles to view the guts of the gateway on any video I could find and of course there's no schematic I could find for the KVD21. I think if I go external I will probably order 4 antennas to occupy the 4 ports on the modem and the puck @ $50 to see how they compare for performance.
