Jun 26, 2012 · OK first put the thermostats back in. The thermostats restrict and control the amount of water around the cylinder head. If you run without thermostats the water is circulating too fast and doesn't allow the cylinder head to run at the proper temperature and doesn't allow the cooling water to take the heat from the engine.
Jul 7, 2021 · Yes the XR2 would rev between 5500 to 6000 compared to 5000-5500 of the standard blackmax. It is slightly ported, 200hp exhaust and jetted carbs. It will give you a slightly better performance then the black max engine if it is still in good shape. Let me know if you have further questions. Noel. Nov 26, 2010 · You have lots to choose from. Any 2.0, 2.4, or 2.5 V6 LU with the right length driveshaft will bolt up. Newer is better, of course, and if you replace a 4 inch lower with a 4.5, you'll need a different prop.
