Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns. You can format your sd card from within the steam deck settings and then just set up emudeck again. I can't use my SD card because it's in an unwritable directory now, and I'm not sure how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

This is an old thread but I have recently switched from emudeck to retrodeck and like to cover some of the positives.. I keep everything on a microSD card (for my steamdeck or external drive in my ChimeraOS desktop) and the save folder in emudeck just contains (for most systems except ps2) symbolic links back to the internal home folder, which makes the folders on the microsd card useless.
