Yeah, I do that for full cleanings every couple of weeks. Otherwise I just do the quick wipe down mid-cycle while the chute is open. My LR gets dirty fast with five cats and needs to be cleaned regularly in between litter dumps (it'll look like OP's picture within a few days otherwise), so this is quick and easy and keeps it from building up enough that it becomes an ordeal to do a proper clean.
