A person's character is a mage or range tank depending on which they use in PvP the most. It wouldn't make much sense to consider myself as a range tank when I rarely use it in PvP. Also, in osrs, there are more specific differences. Mages tend to benefit more from higher defense, lower prayer while range often are best at 70def with rigour .Back then, range tank was 75/70 max (if i remember right Staff of Light was 75 attack) maybe 75/73 was the cutoff before you gained a cb level from strength. It seems a Zerk would be much more efficient than a range tank considering it has more of a KO factor with a G Maul or 2H. For straight up pking, go zerk.
