The character designs are gorgeous and memorable, and the characters themselves are endearing, even the villains. I know Sailor Moon isn't a battle shonen, but I fully agree, the fights are underwhelming. They play out more like RPG encounters then well, fights. Everyone just stands around shouting attacks.

The reason why Eternal Sailor Moon is called the strongest, by both Cosmos and Mamoru, is because this is when Usagi was powerful physically but she was at her peak mental strength.
